Virtual Seminar Advocates for Patent Protection

On September 19, the Department of Intellectual Property (IPD) held a virtual seminar to promote awareness of the Patent Law, which came into effect on May 31, 2024. Dr. Moe Moe Thwe, Director General of the Department of IP, opened the event by stressing the importance of this law for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). She urged businesses to protect their innovations under the Patent Law, highlighting how intellectual property (IP) protection could drive economic growth and foster domestic technological advancements.

With over 100 attendees, including officials and business representatives, the seminar covered crucial aspects of IP rights. Dr. Pwint Phyo Win provided a thorough explanation of the law, addressing participants’ concerns and encouraging businesses to leverage IP protections to secure their creations. The seminar underscored the essential role of IP in building a more innovative, competitive, and prosperous economy for Myanmar.
