Trademark Search in Myanmar
Myanmar trademark searches of available IPD-published records, with identical and similar mark review, relevant Nice classes and a registration risk report.
A pre-filing trademark search helps international IP firms and brand owners assess potential obstacles before committing to an application in Myanmar. We review the proposed mark alongside the relevant goods, services and Nice classes.
What we review
- Identical and similar trademarks in the available published records.
- The relevant Nice classes and the proposed goods and services.
- Distinctiveness, descriptiveness and potentially conflicting marks, with reference to the refusal grounds in sections 13 and 14 of the Trademark Law 2019.
Current search coverage
At present, our trademark searches in Myanmar are limited to records under the new trademark registration system that have already been published by the Intellectual Property Department (IPD). Applications that have been filed but not yet published are outside the scope of the search. Accordingly, the absence of a conflicting mark in the search results does not guarantee that no earlier application exists or that the proposed mark will be accepted for registration.
What you receive
We present the search results and registration risk assessment in a report. Where appropriate, we identify issues for further consideration and discuss practical options before filing.
Information to send
- A clear representation of the proposed mark.
- The relevant goods and services and any proposed Nice classes.
- Any known marks of concern and the intended applicant details.
